A 3 hours tour,
drive to downtown Guayaquil to the 19th century neighborhood of Las
Peñas, passing by the bustling riverfront and the Rotonda with a
view to the Guayas river, continue through one of the most important
avenues in Guayaquil the 9th of October Avenue to see Centenario
Park , the largest Plaza in the city, where the most important
monument is the Great Central Monument surrounded by images of the
founders of the country, a monument to patriotism. Continue
to Bolivar Park, oldest and famous park, afterwards we can see the
Nahim Isais Museum (this museum has a display of several
archaeological pieces and some religious art) .The
newest site to visit is the MALECON 2000 waterfront built in a
modern style and considered as the
symbol of this city.

On this tour we
will visit ¨Museo Municipal¨ with four halls holding that display
remaining of the pre-ceramic period, followed by Guayaquil´s first
inhabitants and the origin of its name. In the second hall
colonization and emancipation of Guayaquil, then the third one with
the beginning of the republic and revolutions from the same time;
the last one the end of the XIX and the beginning of the XX century.
Close by, we
find the ¨Museum Nahím Isaías Barquet¨ that holds archeological
pieces of the four cultural periods of the Ecuadorian coast, 10.000
B.C. until 1532 A.C. Another exhibition is the colonial religious
art museum from the beginning of the XVI century to the end of the
XVIII century.
North of
Malecon 2000, a beautiful modern vessel-like construction is the ¨Museum
of Archeology and Contemporaneous Art¨(MAAC), where also open
cultural acts like classic, folk, jazz, blues and pop music are
presented. ¨Banco del Pacífico Archeological and Modern Art Museum¨
, cultural periods of the Ecuadorian coast. ¨Marine History Museum¨
(INHIMA), history of the Ecuadorian navy.
¨Calderon Memorial Museum¨, built inside the warship tells
visitors about the naval battle of Jambelí displaying guns, artifacts and clothing used by sailors and officials
considered heroes of the sea battle.
¨Museum of
Gold of Casa de la Cultura¨ display of figures, masks, ornaments
and utensils made out of gold from La Tolita culture, 500 ac until
1532 of integration period in the Esmeralda's province.

A 2 ½ hour tour;
About a half-hour
drive north of Guayaquil, this
botanical garden is located. This site has
recently gained recognition for its fine orchid collection
(as well as hundreds of other plants).
It has a butterfly garden and some plant exhibits of palm
trees, helicons, cactus, bromeliads and a diverse fruit trees.
