The Ecuadorian Andes is famous for Itīs impressive mountains, volcanoes, and snow-capped peaks. The route between Quito and Riobamba is known as "THE AVENUE OF THE VOLCANOES".
Cotopaxi area has a variety of landscapes, each one with a unique microclimate, home of abundant flora and fauna in several national parks; Cotopaxi is also the highest active volcano in the world.
Typical, curious markets like Pujilí, Saquisilí and Latacunga can be found at Cotopaxi province. Those are surrounded by Cotopaxi, the highest active volcano in the world and well known for climbing. Its name was given to a National Park.
Known as incredibly skilful weavers, the Salasacas are a representative Indian community. All kind of textiles, woolen sisal rugs and wall hangings and are shown inside their houses or at a small market.
Baños is located forty minutes from the Salasacas community at Tungurahua province. Its a popular tourist spot with Ecuadorians and foreigners.
Baños tropical surrounding includes beautiful waterfalls, thermal springs, rivers. A paradise in the mountains and one of the gateways to the Amazon is famous for its waterfalls and thermal hot springs that surrounds it. An ideal place for Eco-tourism and some other adventure sports such as trekking, mountain biking, kayaking among others. Riobamba "The Sultan of the Andes", is surrounded by spectacular snowcapped peaks such as Chimborazo (at 6,310 m, Ecuador's highest peak). This colonial city is one of the oldest colonial cities in Ecuador, well known for its cobblestone streets and antique churches, the Conceptas Convent Museum, Cathedral and Basilica.
