Located in Santa Cruz Island, the Charles Darwin Research Station, which opened in 1962, has been created to maintain the delicate equilibrium of the area while allowing tourists to have the unique experience of seeing endemic species as close as you could ever imagine in a natural laboratory.
In
1959, the Government declared the Islands a National Park;
placing them under the strict and necessary protection of
Law. Policies and rules for management were created to preserve
this paradise where animals are fearless to men.
The
archipelago is composed of 13 major islands, six smaller ones
and more than 40 islets and rocks, many of them with more
than a single name. Those are home of see lions, marine and
land iguanas, giant tortoises, pink flamingos, pelican, Galapagos
hawk, frigate birds, red and blue-footed boobies, masked boobies,
flightless cormorant and albatrosses. Underwater the diversity
is amazing. That's why Galapagos diving means enjoying a beauty
scenery of unlimited marine flora and fauna.
Galapagos
is a land and see gem. This islands represent one of the world's
marvels. Visiting them is an unforgivable experience.
